Everything you need to know about your new Soffit, Fascia & Eavestrough
Soffit & Fascia
Everflow Soffit & Fascia in Regina consists of the following parts:
- Sofit – Underside Cladding which can also allow ventilation to come through the home. Soffits back in the day were wood however for replacements they come in both Vented and Non-Vented and can come in several different materials though Aluminum is the most common for new replacements.
- J-trim – provides an attachment slot to a home either screwed to the back wall or nailed to rafters or strapping upward.
- Gable still trims – a top trim on gable ends that holds the fascia in place and creates a transition from the roof to the fascia.
- Fascia – The front-facing cladding, older fascia was composed of wood 1X6 as an example however for today’s renovations we tend to replace with Aluminum or Steel with Aluminum being the most common. Fascia sizes will vary with 4” and up with the most common size being 6”. Lastly, there are two locations for fascia one behind the eave on the flats and one on the gables which are the peaked areas.
Eavestrough (Gutters) are typically a seamless gutter assembly that can be purchased in both Steel and Aluminum. Steel is preferred as it is stronger and has less expansion and contraction. Eaves come in both 5” total width and 6” with 5” being the most common and most cost-effective.
